About HCG

What is hCG?

What is hCG? Many people are asking this question everyday. I like giving background information for better understanding. So to answer the "What is hCG?" question I will begin with the hypothalamus.

What is the Hypothalamus?

The discussion of what hCG is and how it works must begin with information on the Hypothalamus Gland. Now I don't want to give a medical review of the hypothalamus but this special gland is like the general director of your hormone system. It controls many things including body temperature, blood pressure, fluid balances, proper sleep balances, and your natural weight set point. Your natural weight set point is determined by how much fat your body stores and is used for energy which is controlled by.....You guessed it, the Hypothalamus.

What is hCG?: The Hormone

hCG is Human chorionic gonadotropin and is a hormone produced by the placenta of pregnant women. No, if you take this, you won't feel any effects of pregnancy...lol.

The human body is a wonderful thing. What this hormone does is takes the body fat of the mother and uses it to sustain the life of the child she is carrying. This is especially important for the survival of the fetus during periods of famine.

Doctor Simeons figured that if the body will use this hormone to use body fat to feed a fetus, maybe if it is used in small doses in both men and women in combination with a very low calorie diet(VCLD), the body will use its fat stores for energy and help people shed body fat and lose weight.
The reason why this is important is because the body has three different types of body fat. Structural fat is the fat that supports your organs and is found in the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. Normal Fat which your body normally uses for energy. Finally, there is your abnormal body fat. This is found in your hips, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, upper arms, and in men, the chest. hCG tells your hypothalamus to release your abnormal fat stores and use it as energy and preserve your normal and structural fat as well as muscle tissue.
Now honestly, this is the most basic way I could describe what the hormone is and how it works. I think its a good idea to read all of the Dr. Simeons manuscript, "Pounds and Inches" hCG Weight Loss protocol.
